Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant - **IVF**.
In this role, the successful candidate, under supervision of the Program Manager for Cryopreservation or designee performs administrative and support tasks requiring knowledge and understanding of embryology processes. Primary responsibility for handling admin and technical functions of transport of tissue in and out of the fertility Center and will involve manual processes related to packing of tissue.
Job Responsibilities:
Directly responsible for; including but not limited to the tasks listed below.
Handling, coordinating and tracking shipments of cryopreserved tissue (eggs, embryos, sperm ) into and out of the NYU FC per SOPs -
Direct Interaction with patients to clarify their intent, obtain applicable consents and explain details
Direct interaction with patients and outside facilities to obtain relevant lab records
Contants and works with other facilities and couriers to schedule shipments
Monitoring of shipments to ensure receipt / delivery when expected
May directly access specimens as a spotter/ confirmer for transport.
Accurate and timely updating of records in EMR and scheduling log
Provides Manger with support related to incoming calls as a first line of information on transports
Communicates clearly and consistently on follow ups and directives from Manager
Strict adherence to current policies and procedures as documented
Coverage for scheduling of appointments for Andrology lab per SOPs
Scheduling Semen Analysis appointments
Scheduling Semen cryopreservation appointments and coordinating with clinical teams if and when applicable
Direct Interaction with patients to clarify their intent, obtain applicable consents and explain details
Data entry of demographics, scanning of documents, assist with backfills
Obtaining and/ or follow up on consents for cryo and IUI procedures
Performs other duties as assigned in times of high volume, inspections or as identified by leadership.
Quality Control-
Report malfunctions to senior personnel promptly.
Follow departmental procedures and instructions.
Adhere to universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens and in accordance with procedures developed by the Program management.
Verify status of patient consent compliance related to Cryoinventory procedures.
Judgment/Decision Making
Seek information and ask for assistance from senior personnel when necessary regarding difficult or questionable situations.
Report untoward result or incident to senior personnel and prepare documentation as requested.
Initiative
Assume responsibility for on-going professional development and continuing education- FOCUS, ASRM
Volunteer assistance to others when assigned work is completed.
Seek additional tasks when assigned work is completed.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

May be requested to cover weekend and holiday coverage as required and appropriate

Begin shift as scheduled
Adhere to School of Medicine and Departmental guidelines concerning sick time, vacation/personal time, and paid/unpaid leaves
Additional Performance Standards:
Adhere to School of Medicine and Departmental guidelines concerning rules of conduct, safety, security and patient confidentiality, etc.
Maintain a professional appearance; wears identification badge at all times.
Must be able to perform lifting of 20-40 pounds (cryo shipping container)
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Associate's Degree is required. Minimum of 1 Year of related experience in an office or fertility lab setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. Computer Skills - Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point and Access. Ability to develop basic formulae for spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; email, calendars and medical records data entry for EPIC and FERT ( fertility center custom medical record) scanning documents and set up webexes. Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software. Knowledge of standard office practices. Ability to use standard office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree degree in a related field with 1-2 years of related experience in a lab admin position

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $31,266.00 - $50,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
