Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

As a Gross Room Tech, you will be in lab professional role, dictating, dissecting and processing biopsies, margins and tissue specimens.

Responsibilities:

• Perform dissection of non-complicated routine specimens
• Dictate gross description including, but not limited to anatomical site, size, color, weight, dimensions, count, volume, cut techniques, abnormal findings
• Dissect and prepares tissue for cassettes
• Load prepared cassettes into Tissue Processors and starts processor
• Dispose of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines
• Maintains strictest confidentiality

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in the field of Laboratory Science or equivalent under the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines of high complexity testing or Bachelor Degree in the field of Laboratory Science or equivalent under the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines of high complexity testing
• Eligible for State licensure, if applicable
• Minimum of 1 year grossing experience
• Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test
