The Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a Pediatric Oncologist to join the Transplant and Cellular Therapy Service who is devoted to the care of children with cancer from birth through young adulthood (<27yr). The Pediatric 'Transplant and Cellular Therapy Service is a medium size transplant center (~50 Allo, 10-15 Auto, which includes Gene Therapy for hemoglobinopathies and 15 IEC infusions/year). For decades the pediatric TCT service has very fruitful clinical and research collaboration with the Adult BMT and Adult Cell Therapy Service. Also, there are ample opportunities for correlative studies with affiliated labs, e.g. IDMS (Immune Discovery and Monitoring Service), Microbiome, genomics, proteomics etc. Our mission includes research, education, clinical care, advocacy and community outreach. We are actively seeking physicians that are BE/BC in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology.

Role Overview:

As a member of the Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Service you will have the responsibility for:

• Academic activities including publications, and education of fellows, residents and Advance Practice Providers
• Direct patient care for patients undergoing transplants or cellular therapy:
  • Supervising and managing TCT patients (in- and outpatient clinic): 8-10 weeks per year 'inpatient', 3-4 full-day clinics a month.
  • Organizing and managing special interest cross-disciplinary clinics/programs (e.g., non-malignant hematology, congenital bone marrow failure syndromes)
• Development and implementation of clinical trials for patients with malignant, non-malignant hematology or other non-malignant indications for transplant.
  • Translation of preclinical data from TCT Research Laboratory to the clinic
  • Incorporation of clinical trials into clinical care of patients undergoing either transplantation or cellular therapy
  • Integrate correlative studies in these clinical trials.

Kew Requirements:

• Applicants must possess a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New York (or must be licensed in another jurisdiction and be eligible for licensure in New York and New Jersey).
• They must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Osteopathy (DO) or equivalent.
• Board-certified in Pediatrics; Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Eligible for appointment at an academic rank ranging from Assistant to Associate Professor.

Core Skills:

• Applicants must have strong clinical skills with at least 3 years' experience in TCT
• A proven interest in translational or clinical research (i.e. publications, committees, PhD, grants)
• Broad interest and experience in TCT (non-malignant/malignant)

Department of Pediatrics:

MSK's Department of Pediatrics is the nation's largest pediatric cancer program dedicated to the treatment of children, teenagers, and young adults with cancer, immune deficiencies and blood disorders, with more than 800 new patients each year. Comprising leading experts in the treatment of pediatric malignancies and immune deficiencies, over 70 faculty members within the Department of Pediatrics are dedicated to seeking novel approaches to achieve more-effective outcomes while reducing or minimizing the short-and long-term effects of treatment, both in the laboratory and in state-of-the-art clinical facilities.

In addition to treatment, MSK offers a wide range of support services to enhance quality of life and ease the experience of cancer on families. Care for children, adolescents, or young adults is provided in an adjoined inpatient and outpatient platform that incorporates family-friendly and age appropriate design. The outpatient facilities include a Recreation Center, as well as a classroom for MSK's school program; a lounge designated for teen and young adult patients; suites with the latest medical technology; private areas for consultations and treatment; and treatment and family spaces with multiple integrative medicine services and recreational patient programming. Contained within the pediatric care platform is also a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for children who require a more-intensive inpatient support, and a Procedure Room for onsite anesthesia-staffed procedures.

MSK's unparalleled volume allows for delivery of care within disease-oriented services with deep vertically-integrated sub-specialized expertise: Neuro-oncology, Sarcoma, Neuroblastoma, Hematologic Malignancies, and Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Services. There are three horizontally integrated programs that impact care of patients across all services: the Pediatric Translational Medicine Program (molecular diagnostics and early phase clinical trials), the Clinical Trials infrastructure and the Fellowship program. The Division of Academic Oncology seeks to horizontally integrate all medical practitioners that are required for the care and support of patients, including pediatric oncologists that care for the full breadth of cancer patients, supportive services (pain, palliative, psychosocial), survivorship, and affiliated subspecialists.

Pay Range: $224,300 - $535,900
